DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR SPOUSE OR PARTNER DOES ON FACEBOOK? In this insightful and probing book you will be taken behind the scenes with real couples who have experienced anguish, heartbreak, jealousy, and loss when they each crossed the "Invisible Line," that is the doorway to secretive behavior on Facebook. The author delves into the problems couples face each day when with a keystroke they straddle between the virtual world of Facebook and their own day to day real lives. You will find yourself in this book. You will find your partner in this book. You will find your friends in this book. And the author pulls no punches about what exactly you will find. This is an eye-opening read. The author adds a good dose of humor as we drop down the rabbit hole and experience not only what these Facebreaks are, but he how we can recognize the pitfalls and avoid them. If you have personally experienced the shot to your soul by you or your partner crossing a line on Facebook, this book is for you. If you’re the one who crossed the line, this book is for you. IF YOU USE FACEBOOK, THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ.

Everywhere I look I see people looking at their phones. Go to a coffee shop or restaurant, no one is talking to each other, they are all looking at their phone! Nowadays on the rare occasion a family eats together, how often are they talking to each other? I go to weddings, parties and dinners and am astonished to see people looking at their phones rather than interacting with each other. For many it's become acceptable to be in the middle of a conversation with a person *right in front of you* and to look at your phone to answer a text, email or call.

This is a new landscape and believe it or not, this change is creating problems in our relationships and day-to-day lives because **no one is educating us** on what's acceptable. No one is educating us on how to properly navigate relationships while using these new forms of communication (one very real example Mr. Worthen offered was a husband and wife arguing by text message, and how infuriating those little texting "bubbles" made the wife).

Mr. Worthen delivers with his book. He offers this simple education with a lot of humor, in a light hearted manner and using real-life examples. The best part is that he wrote the book based upon surveys that he did on others. It's well researched.

When reading the points in his book, I discovered that I was not thinking about every point when interacting with others on social media or texting. These points can and have lead to unnecessary quarrels and "Facebreaks" (a great term which was coined by the author).

Electronic communication and social media is actually changing our general behavior in general life, and what we now consider acceptable ways to interact with each other.

This book made me realize that what I say when speaking to someone face-to-face is often different than what I communicate from the comfort of a phone or computer. I don't know how many of us realize that and I'm happy that the author gave me another point of view.

Funnily enough, Mr. Worthen and I are both in a Facebook group. When he promoted his new book, I was *immediately* interested. Within 5 minutes I had ordered it from Amazon (thanks, Prime!) I cracked it open upon arrival and I admit that Mr. Worthen delivered beyond my expectations.

The points made in the book go deeper than social media and actually apply to life. His concepts are basic, yet powerful. He gets us to look at our relationships, interaction and ways to communicate in a whole new light. Again, it's very simple, but true.

For me this is a must-read. I am going to ask my two teenage sons to read this, and I have already recommended it to friends. I think that having this information will not only ensure that we understand our actions on social media, but will help us to better understand how our actions can affect others in day-to-day life.

At the end of his book, Mr. Worthen writes that he is in progress on his next book. I look forward to it and will be ordering it as soon as it's available.

Facebreak The Hidden Side of How Texting Liking and Stalking Impacts Our Relationships Dave Worthen 9781520799575 Books Reviews

I am generally a bit reluctant to read and review my friends books as they say be honest but they aren't always well written and it's hard to hear that from a friend and keep the friendship. Luckily for us Dave is a fabulous writer!

I really wasn't sure what this book was about before I started reading. It is really about the fabric of life and communication. Dave had me literally laughing out loud.
I laugh because the examples he gives are funny and because, honestly I have done many of these things, hard to admit, but I have.

This is a book that everyone that values their relationships should read! (Well, anyone that uses text messages, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the like.)

Facebreak is a very fun read but also gives some great advice on how to avoid upsets in our relationships and how to repair them when they occur.

Thanks Dave!
Fun, insightful read!
Where do I begin? I'm not done with the book yet, but I am finally feeling so understood! Seriously, all couples should read this book and make some very real agreements. Thank you to the author who has truly grasped what's going on, and how relationships really can be affected. The proof is in the book!
Very well written, funny and the author has a lot on insight about people and their relationships, what makes them work and what makes them falter. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to improve their personal relationships.
WOW. This should be mandatory reading in schools. Especially now days. It is an easy read with mind blowing insight!! It is funny and extremely effective in getting you to realize for yourself why Facebreaks happen. The realizations I have had after reading this book have changed my life. I think about it daily and I am still thinking about it. This effects everyone every day. The simplicity of it is just profound... Freeze frame... stop reading this review buy the book and read it NOW. You will thank me later. Thank YOU Dave!
While the target audience is probably a couple of decades younger than I, Worthen presents extremely valuable insight to areas of relationship “care and maintenance” well beyond the enigma of social media. This short book is deceiving because it packs lessons tightly into its pages that would take other authors twice the length. Worthen sets up his case study lessons with often hilarious, yet appropriate, humor, then takes the reader through a mental millisecond-by-millisecond analysis until the moral lesson of his point explodes in the 10-ring…. and he does it again and again. Before future printings, the author needs to do a bit of proof-reading, to eliminate the bothersome typographical and grammatical problems.
I recommend this book to anyone who uses Facebook, texting, or any other form of social media. Communicating can be tough enough when you are face-to-face, especially when the subject matter is not all roses. This book clearly shows the pitfalls of communicating via social media, how to avoid them, and how to have successful communication. The principles can be readily employed in any communication, whether at home or in the workplace, in person or via the written word. I like having a book in my hands, so I ordered the paperback edition. I read it cover to cover during a plane flight. The writer's humor pulls you along. He is a story teller with a great sense of humor.
